About the BSc Business Administration program

The Business Administration degree prepares students for a career in business and management. It provides the opportunity to specialize in management subject areas that students choose. In particular, students develop an understanding of management from a combination of economic and social science viewpoints, drawing on the different relevant disciplinary perspectives within the College of Business Administration and within the University. This program also furnishes students with the important managerial interpersonal skills in terms of group working, research analysis, report-writing and presentation skills.

Program Structure

In the first three years, a range of foundation courses provide students with an understanding of the role of the core business disciplines: accounting, finance, operations and information management, human resource management, and marketing, and a third year core course provides a viewpoint on strategic management. Alongside these courses, disciplinary courses provide training in economics and organizational behavior, and in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, so that students leave the program with a good understanding of the basis of social science claims to knowledge. The Department also offers options in subjects such as economics, business history, information systems, leadership, management science, and organizational behavior. Students will also have the opportunity to take courses in other related departments within the College.
