2023 PHD Program in Management

Capital University of Economics and Business

1. General Information

This is a 4-year program. There are two semesters in each academic year: Fall and Spring. Each semester consists of sixteen weeks for teaching.

2. Course Selections

It is important to plan carefully to make sure that you schedule all of your required core courses. For the PhD Degree in Business Administration, applicants must fulfill at least 32 credits according to the following requirements. The passing score for a PhD degree applicant should be 70 (at 100 percent system).

2.1 Fundamental Courses

All students must complete the following 5 fundamental courses, totally 14 credits.

- Chinese Culture and National Conditions (3 credits)

- Chinese (two semesters,6 credits)

- Advanced Microeconomics (2 credits)

- Management Classics (1 credits)

- Business Statistics (2 credits)

2.2 Core Courses

All students must complete the following 6 core courses, totally 12 credits.

- Advanced Research Methods (2 credits)

- Human Resource Management (2 credits)

- Strategic Management (2 credits)

- Advanced Supply Chain Management (2 credits)

- International Marketing (2 credits)

- Financial Management (2 credits)

2.3 Selective Courses

Each student must obtain at least 6 credits from the following.

- Public Relations (2 credits)

- Industrial Organization Theory (2 credits)

- Operation Management (2 credits)

- Advanced Marketing Research (2 credits)

- Industrial and Organizational Psychology (2 credits)

- Stock Portfolio Analysis (1 credits)

- Applied Econometrics (3 credits)

- International Business (2 credits)

- Advanced Supply Chain Management (2 credits)

- Knowledge Management (2 credits)

- Global Research Workshops & Thesis Consultation (2 credits)

3. Thesis for PhD

The thesis should represent the students’ personal work under the supervision of the supervisor, and be written clearly and concisely in English. The Title and Abstract of the PhD’s thesis should be in both English and Chinese.

The candidates of PhD will not be allowed to attend the dissertation defence if their credits were less than 32.

At the end of second semester, the College of Business Administration will assign the supervisors for the students.

The topic of the thesis should be compatible with business administration.

This training program is suitable for international students of Grade 2023 in PhD degree of Management.
