Kaiyu (Sky) Shao’s research delves into the intricate power dynamics of multinational corporations' corporate social responsibility (CSR), navigating the complexities of today's global landscape. Beyond CSR, she pursues innovative approaches to management studies, currently exploring the burgeoning field of visual management research. Her work has been published in prestigious journals such as Organization Studies and Journal of Management Studies.
Abstract:
In her talk, Kaiyu Shao aims to unsettle management scholars’ sense of security that “we know what we know and who we are”. Re-opening crucial discussions about the nature of reality, the construction of knowledge, the messy entanglement of context, and researchers' positionality, she hopes to offer theoretical tools for scholars to navigate complexity, question cherished assumptions about objectivity, and embrace alternative pathways to understanding organizational life.
