Course Description：

A critical study of the major accounting pronouncements on general purpose financial statements. After completing this course, students should also be able :

(1) To develop an understanding of the economic and regulatory environment of financial reporting.

(2) To achieve a critical and integrated knowledge of alternative measurement and disclosure in general-purpose financial statements, and motivations influencing choices among them.

(3) By integrating perspectives from economics and finance, to develop the skills necessary for a critical analysis and interpretation of financial statements for investor and other decision-making.

(4) To develop and apply financial reporting research skills through the exploration of research databases such as the Financial Accounting Research System (FARS), as well as library, online and other resources.
